**Chamber working with Council on Doonella Lake Bridge impacts

The Chamber is actively engaging with Noosa Council regarding the significant disruption caused by the Doonella Lake Bridge upgrade and associated traffic changes.

While the Chamber recognises the importance of essential infrastructure works, the current traffic arrangements are having a serious impact on local businesses, residents, staff, customers and the broader community. Businesses across Tewantin, Noosaville and surrounding areas are reporting reduced trade, cancelled bookings, staff delays, delivery disruptions and customers avoiding affected areas due to extended traffic delays.

Chamber representatives are in discussion with Noosa Council to ensure business and community impacts are clearly understood and that practical outcomes are considered as the project progresses. The Chamber is also gathering further information and data to better understand the full impact of the project, not only on local businesses, but also on broader community access. This includes impacts on Noosa Hospital, medical services, schools, staff movement, customers, residents and essential daily travel across the region.

The Chamber’s priority is to ensure the business community has a clear seat at the table as decisions are made about how Noosa moves forward during this disruption.

“We understand the need for infrastructure upgrades, but the economic and community impacts must be properly recognised, measured and managed,” a Chamber spokesperson said.  “Our role is to listen to members, gather evidence, work constructively with Council and advocate for outcomes that support both business continuity and community access.”

The Chamber encourages affected businesses to document specific impacts, including lost trade, cancelled appointments or bookings, staff delays, delivery issues and additional costs.

Further updates will be provided to members and the wider community as more information becomes available.
